The "Schoolgirls" tournament, organized in Lankaran with the joint cooperation of AFFA and the Ministry of Science and Education, with the support of UEFA, has started.
Idman.Biz, referring to the official website of AFFA, reports that the first games of Group E were held at the Shilavar village secondary school, which was chosen as the center, and 4 teams competed.
First, a match was held between Shilavar village secondary school and the Foreign Languages Bias Internat type (XDT) gymnasium, and then the teams of schools No. 8 and 7 met.
The first matches of Group F were organized at Sütəmurdov village secondary school with the participation of 4 teams. First, Sütəmurdov and school No. 4, then the teams of schools No. 10 and 3 met.
At the opening ceremony of the tournament, specialists of the AFFA Women's Football Department, the leading advisor of the Education sector for the city of Lankaran, the curator of extracurricular and educational affairs Jamil Akhundzade, as well as the directors of Shilavar and Sütəmurdov village secondary schools Elnur Asadli and Kamran Aliyev spoke and wished success to all participants.
It should be noted that the "Schoolgirls" tournament is a pilot project designed for girls aged 7-9. Initially, this season, the project is planned to be held in 2 regions - in 20 selected state and private schools in Baku and in 10 schools from Lankaran. The main purpose of organizing the tournament is to create interest in football among girls from an early age by creating the AFFA U-10 Girls League next season and to attract new football players to the national teams in the lower age group in the future.
