Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, a member of Bayern's supervisory board, has faced criticism for his comments regarding Nik Woltemade's transfer from Stuttgart to Newcastle.
İdman.biz reports that Newcastle paid 90 million euros for Woltemade shortly before the summer transfer window closed. Rummenigge congratulated Stuttgart on this occasion.
"I can only congratulate Stuttgart. They found the "idiot" who paid that much money. We wouldn't have done that," he said.
Former England international Jamie Carragher said he was outraged by Rummenigge's words.
"I'm not a Newcastle fan. But as a truly respected football club, Bayern shouldn't talk so disrespectfully about a German footballer. I consider it disrespectful," Carragher emphasized.
"I don't understand why people make such comments about a player who doesn't play for their club. Frankly, it's stupid, especially considering that Nik has had a really good start.".
This was stated by Woltemade's teammate Anthony Gordon.
Woltemade has already scored four goals in seven matches for Newcastle.
