"We didn't score goals in time. Although we started the match with an early goal, we couldn't continue it."
This was stated by Turan Tovuz defender Roderick Miller in an interview with futbolxeber.az.
We present that interview:
- You won 2:1 against Shahdag-Gusar, a representative of the I League, in the 1/4 finals of the Azerbaijan Cup. How would you comment on the meeting?
- It was a cup game. It was a tough match. Frankly, the match was difficult for us. The most important thing is that we won and qualified for the next stage.
- What was the reason for the difficulty of the game? Could there be complacency?
- We didn't score goals in time. Although we started the match with an early goal, we couldn't continue it. However, it was necessary to perform more confidently. If we had increased the difference in the score in time, the meeting would have been easier for us.
- In the next stage, you will face Kapaz. Do you consider the Ganja club's elimination of Araz-Nakhchivan from the competition a surprise?
- I wouldn't call it a surprise. Actually, it didn't make any difference to us. Both Kapaz and Araz-Nakhchivan are good teams.
- In general, how far is Turan Tovuz's goal to go in the cup?
- The goal is to go as far as possible and win the cup.
- How realistic do you think this is?
- If we work hard, we can achieve our goal. The next stage in the cup will be next year. There is time.
- You have not been able to win in the last 3 rounds of the national championship. Will it be possible to end the unsuccessful series on the Gabala trip?
- Our goal in that match is 3 points. As you said, our results have not been very encouraging in the last rounds. Therefore, we will do our best to win the match against Gabala. We want to climb even higher in the tournament table.
- It is known that Turan Tovuz has been given the task of winning the championship. You said that you also aim to win the cup. Will the team's strength allow it to fight to the end on both fronts?
- We currently have injured players. I believe they will return to the line-up soon. With a full squad, we are able to fight to the end on both fronts. We just need to keep working and develop further.
