Interview with Rahid Amirguliyev, captain of "Shahdag Gusar", to Sport24.az
- You became the champion of the Second League. What feelings are you experiencing?
- Thank God, we were able to become champions. Regardless of the league you participate in, it is gratifying to win the title. This is the desire of every team. We are also very happy. True, this is not my first championship. But what makes it special is that I achieved it with my home team. I started my career here. It's the club's first cup. This makes me even happier. I hope we will see the team in the Premier League in the future.
- What difficulties did you face during the championship?
- II League was not easy for us. Although we took first place without losing, we experienced difficulties. We had tough matches. Thanks also to "Shafa". They fought until the end. Interest remained. We had difficult meetings in the second round. Thank God, we were able to experience the joy of championship.
- You finished the league without defeat. What is the secret of the successful result?
- Nevertheless, we formalized the championship in the last round. This also shows that there was competition in the league. We have a good team, a young and promising coach. The squad was normal last season as well. But we couldn't become champions. We finished the season in third place. However, we kept most of the team. The children understand each other well. We have a good, strong team. The main thing is that there is unity in the team.
Can "Shahdag Gusar" be competitive in the 1st league as well?
- There are some conditions to be competitive in the I League. We would also like to. But this does not depend on the team alone. There is also another side. Finance must also be taken into account. The management will decide what goals we will fight for in the I League. But every team's idea is to become a champion. We will try to perform well at least.
- Your contract with the club expires at the end of the season. What are your plans for the future?
- My contract is expiring. But "Shahdag Gusar" is my home club. I started my career here. Although I spent most of my career in "Khazar Lankaran". I want to stay here. I intend to help the team next year as well. We will have a conversation with the management. Then I will make a decision. But I want to support the team internally.
- "Shahdag Gusar" does not hold home games in Gusar. Is it possible to hold the games in the First League in the next season in the home arena?
- We are also suffering. We hold our home games in Shamakhi. The most suffering is our magnificent fans. They travel a long way, they don't leave us alone. It would be easier for us and the fans if our games were held in Gusar. Our supporters would also increase in the stands. It is the fans who make football interesting. It would be great if the stadium in Gusar was repaired. But will they be able to deliver at this rate? I do not know. I hope it will be ready soon.
