"Our national team is facing a very tough game. I wish our team success." These words were said to Sport24.az by Rahid Amirguliyev, the former football player of the Azerbaijani national team.
The experienced midfielder shared his thoughts on the Azerbaijan-France match, which will be held today in the qualifying round of D-2026:
"The opponent is currently one of the strongest teams in the world. Perhaps the strongest. If we look at the players, they have a very strong squad. It will be very difficult for our team. No one wants a big defeat. No matter how much we want, it doesn't seem believable to return with a point or a victory from this trip. But I hope that our national team will at least do its best. Let there be no big defeat."
Amirguliyev emphasized that any result can be recorded in football.
"But there is confidence that our national team will show a good game against France. The opponent is very strong. Our football players also realize this. They are preparing accordingly. I hope that there will be no shameful or tragic score."
It should be noted that the France-Azerbaijan game will start today at 22:45.
