Qatar defeated the UAE at home in the qualifying match and qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that the match of the fourth round of Group A, held in Al Rayyan, ended with a score of 2:1.
Boualem Khoukhi (49th minute) and Pedro Miguel (74th minute) scored for Qatar. Sultan Adil Alamiri (90+8) scored the goal for the UAE. Qatar remained with 10 players after Tarek Salman was sent off in the 89th minute.
Qatar, led by Spaniard Julen Lopetegui, won Group A with 4 points. The team will participate in the 2026 World Cup. Qatar hosted the last World Cup.
The UAE finished second in Group A, still having a chance to qualify for the World Cup and will play in the playoffs. Oman was third with one point.
To date, 24 teams have qualified for the 2026 World Cup: Australia, Paraguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay, USA, Morocco, Mexico, Tunisia, Egypt, Canada, Algeria, Japan, Ghana, Cape Verde, New Zealand, Iran, Argentina, Uzbekistan, South Korea, South Africa, Jordan.
A total of 48 teams will participate in the tournament.
