Qarabag football club, coached by Gurban Gurbanov, has started the group stage of the Champions League, considered the main European club tournament, with two consecutive victories for the first time in its history.
Idman.biz reminds that the Aghdam club won a confident 2:0 victory over the Danish team "Copenhagen" in Baku on the second day of the Champions League.
The goals were scored by Zubir and Addai. After two rounds, the Aghdam team has six points and the "bay horses" are in sixth place in the tournament table.
Previously, only in the 2023/2024 season of the Europa League, Gurban Gurbanov's team was able to start the main stage with two victories. In that season, "Qarabag" won at home against "Molde" (Norway) and away against "Hekken" (Sweden). Both games ended with a minimal victory for the Azerbaijani club. In the main stage of the 2017/2018 season of the Champions League, Gurban Gurbanov's team scored only two points in the entire group stage and finished the group in the last place.
Thus, after a 2:3 victory over Benfica and Copenhagen in Baku, Qarabag continues to break records in the main European football tournament.
It should be reminded that Qarabag was able to score only 3 points in 8 games in the main stage of the Europa League last season.
