Azerbaijan's U-21 team played its first match today in the European Championship qualifying round. Sport24.az reports that Aykhan Abbasov's team was a guest of Portugal.
In the difficult away match held in the city of Barcelos, U-21 kept their goal intact in the first half, but after the break, the opponent scored several goals. In the end, our team finished the match with a 0:5 defeat.
This match was the first official match of our national team's head coach Aykhan Abbasov with the team.
The Azerbaijani national team will compete in Group B with Scotland, Bulgaria, Portugal, Czech Republic and Gibraltar. The next match of U-21 will be against Bulgaria. The meeting will be held on September 9 in Baku.
