In the 17th round of the Turkish Super League, Galatasaray maintained their lead by defeating Kasımpaşa 3-0 at home. After the match, the head coach of the Istanbul team, Okan Buruk, evaluated both the victory and the upcoming transfer plans.
İdman.Biz reports that Okan Buruk stated that transfers are inevitable.
According to him, the team is preparing for all positions:
"We have plans for every area. Although we have good players, the injuries we have faced have put us in a difficult situation both physically and psychologically. We are thinking of players who will benefit the team. We are especially planning transfers for the center of defense, midfield, and attack line. There are also players who will leave. We have the opportunity to transfer foreign players. We will not be able to use new transfers in the last two Champions League games, so it is important to protect the current squad. We are in constant contact with the club management and we will attract players who will make a real contribution to the team. The process is not easy, but we are willing."
Okan Buruk noted that he was particularly pleased with Gabriel Sara's goal and Mauro Icardi's distinction. According to him, Icardi's goalscoring and record-breaking have been an additional motivation for the team.
The head coach also assessed the Argentine striker's place in Galatasaray's history:
"Hagi and Icardi are very great football players. I played with Hagi, and I work with Icardi as a head coach. Both of them have left their mark in Galatasaray's history and increased the club's brand value. Icardi returned after a serious injury, and this is not an easy process. He scores goals again, makes a difference, and it is very valuable to have him in the team."
It should be noted that after this victory, Galatasaray reached 42 points and finished the first half of the championship as the leader, three points ahead of their closest rival.
