Problems occurred in the "Neftchi" - "Araz-Nakhchivan" (2:2) match held in the 8th round of the Azerbaijan Premier League.
It was announced at the start of the second half that the VAR system would not work.
Interestingly, 10 minutes after it was announced that VAR would not work, "Neftchi" captain Emin Mahmudov scored the equalizer.
Although the linesman initially raised his flag and recorded an offside, referee Farid Hajiyev recorded the goal after VAR confirmation. However, replays of the episodes were not shown and the offside line was not displayed.
"Araz-Nakhchivan" Executive Director Eldeniz Yusubov made a statement to Sportinfo.az regarding this scandalous situation:
"The club has officially appealed to the AFFA Referees Committee regarding this episode.
The club's request is to present the footage of the chief referee calling an offside, and then changing his decision and pointing to the center after VAR intervention.
The line footage was not shown on the broadcast until the end of the game. Although the teams were informed at the beginning of the second half that VAR was not working, a few minutes later the fourth referee informed the head coaches that the technical malfunction had been eliminated and VAR was working."
The request is related to the presentation of the footage proving that the episode was not offside.
The appeal was made yesterday, but so far, neither the footage has been sent, nor has there been any explanation from the committee regarding the traditional controversial episodes."
