– As a children's coach, are you completely satisfied with the current state of the Sabah Football Academy?
– First of all, I thank you for covering children's football. The management has created all the conditions in our academy. Participation in foreign tournaments is very important for the development of children. Our academy's teams participate in 2-3 foreign tournaments every year.
– What are the main issues that concern you in our overall youth football situation?
– Generally speaking, if everyone – parents, coaches, children – approaches their work responsibly, there will not be many reasons to worry. And most importantly, it is not right to demand results from children. They just need to be developed properly. Training should be structured methodically and in accordance with the unique principles of each academy.
– Sabah's U-14 team, which you coach, became the champion at the tournament held in Georgia in February. We are interested in your opinion about the level of that tournament and the success you achieved...
– The tournament was organized at a very good level. Georgian teams mainly made up the majority of the tournament. The most important thing for us was for the children to gain experience. We finished the tournament as champions. But the main thing was the experience and approach that the children gained. The children played good football and correctly executed what was said on the field. This was the most joyful moment.
– One of the current problems in youth football is the lack of enough professional coaches. Do you want to further develop yourself in this field and gain experience abroad?
– The working principle and professional approach are at a high level in our academy. 2 hours before the training, there is a meeting with our coordinator Giorgi Minashvili regarding the presentation of the training. After the training, the training is analyzed. Also, when we go to foreign tournaments, small courses are organized for us and we get acquainted with the working principles of the academies. In my opinion, coaches should also work on themselves. I also have plans to go abroad for experience purposes.
– It is a known fact that parents interfere a lot in the work of coaches in children's football. How do you regulate this issue?
– Yes, unfortunately, we sometimes encounter such situations. For this, we conduct awareness-raising conversations with parents. It is normal for parents to be sensitive to the development of children. Parents also have a responsibility in raising children as football players, for example, taking attendance issues seriously plays a key role. In order to provide parents with detailed information about the development of children, we also provide them with detailed information about the evaluation of players and send them the necessary information.
– Are there many talented children in Sabah's lower age groups who could be the star of the near future, the successor of Khayal Aliyev? In which positions are there more skilled children?
– Yes, there are quite a few such children. However, in order to turn this potential into real talent, children must strictly adhere to their daily routine. This includes not only the development of football qualities, but also aspects such as nutrition, sleep regime, etc. Children should learn a professional approach to work from a young age.
– What steps do you take to ensure that your pupils grow not only as football players, but also as strong personalities, and do you have off-field conversations with them?
– Of course, in order for children to grow not only as football players, but also as individuals, keeping them constantly in the center of attention and conducting continuous individual and collective conversations is a very important part of the overall work. Work is also being done in this direction in our academy.
