Nadir Nabiyev's thoughts on the National Team, Santos and Rashad Sadigov

"The Hungarian national team played better than Azerbaijan. This is normal."

Idman.biz reports that this was stated by Nadir Nabiyev, the former forward of the Azerbaijani national team, in his statement to Sportal.az.

He assessed the performance of our national team in recent matches: "Hungarian football players play in bigger clubs, in better championships. We could have not lost to Hungary. We cannot say that our national team played well. But it did not make such a bad impression. We could even beat the Latvian national team. There were good opportunities to win. We just need to use the scoring chances that come our way. If we want the national team to achieve results, we need to change something. But we need to discuss what needs to be changed."

Nabiyev also assessed the work of Fernando Santos, the head coach of our national team: "Santos is a well-known, successful, good coach. But looking at the results of our national team, we can say that he is unsuccessful. True, our players look more determined and eager in the last matches. But being determined and eager is not enough to win. It seems that we will not be able to achieve any success with Fernando Santos. Therefore, we need to make the right decision without wasting time. If there is a change of head coach, the new one should be local. I am very confident that Rashad Sadigov can achieve success in the national team."
