Former player of Lviv's "Karpaty" and "Minai" clubs, Mykhailo Kopolovets, shared his thoughts on the upcoming match between the national teams of Azerbaijan and Ukraine in the qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.biz reports that the Ukrainian expert emphasized the importance of defeating Azerbaijan for their team.
According to him, if the Ukrainian national team wants to contend for any positions, they must unequivocally defeat Azerbaijan: "If we don't beat this team, we have no business here at all. It's objective. I understand that everyone plays football now, everyone has learned. Our football is not in good shape right now, the results are obvious. But you need to go out and play. I think the guys will open up after the game with the French, although it won't be easy. But we need to win. Only a victory, otherwise, we have no business here at all."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan-Ukraine match will take place on September 9 in Baku.
