"Middlesbrough" fan Nick Waites has not missed any of the club's official matches for about 30 years.
İdman.Biz reports that Waites has attended the team's 1400th consecutive match.
His streak began in September 1996 and includes every match in all competitions, excluding pre-season friendlies. The last game he missed was in 1992, when "Middlesbrough" defeated "Wolverhampton" to gain promotion to the Premier League. That game coincided with his brother's wedding day.
Waites noted that over the years he has experienced "some very dicey moments," including a period during the pandemic when he was not allowed to attend games. While he accepts that the streak "has to end sometime," he intends to continue supporting the team. On January 10, in the away match against "Fulham", Waites reached another important milestone in his fan career - 1400 matches.
"I've been close to being ill a few times. There have been a few times where if there was a fitness test, I wouldn't have passed it," Waites said.
