Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi and Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo have not been included in the list of nominees for the 2025 Ballon d'Or award, which was announced by France Football magazine on August 8. Sport24.az reports that this is the second year in a row that Messi and Ronaldo have not been among the contenders for the prestigious award.
Messi is the record holder for the number of Ballon d'Or awards. He has won the trophy eight times. Ronaldo has been awarded the Ballon d'Or 5 times.
It should be noted that the list of contenders for the 2025 award includes the names of 30 football players. The Ballon d'Or ceremony will take place in Paris on September 22. Last year, the prestigious award was won by Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
