A meeting was held between the leadership of the two clubs before the "Qarabağ" - "Shkëndija" match, which will be held today in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. Sport24.az reports with reference to the website of the Aghdam club that the president of "Qarabağ" Tahir Gozel, the owner of "Shkëndija" Lazim Destani and his family, as well as representatives of both clubs, came together at an informal lunch meeting. Tahir Gozel thanked the head of the "Shkëndija" club for the warm welcome and invitation during the away match in North Macedonia.
The Destani family, in turn, thanked for the special attention and sincere hospitality, noting that they liked the people, culture and rich cuisine of our country very much.
The sincere conversation ended with the expression of the intention of long-term friendship between the two clubs, two families and two peoples. Both "Qarabağ" and "Shkëndija" management expressed their belief that today's game will be held in the spirit of gentlemanliness and exemplary conduct between two friendly teams, in a highly competitive environment.
Tahir Gozel shared his impressions of the meeting with the website. He emphasized that one of the greatest beauties of football is that it brings together people from different countries and cultures:
"I am very pleased to meet the respected Destani family, who make important contributions to the development of North Macedonia and represent the Albanian-Muslim community at a high level. Our conversations reflected both the history of our country, the story of our Karabakh, and the friendship and business relations established between countries and people. The Destani family are respected people who play an important role in the economic and social development of North Macedonia, implement successful projects and gain influence. I am proud to know them."
Congratulating "Shkëndija" for its past successes and high-quality game, Tahir Gozel said that he believes that the match to be held this evening will be worthy for both teams:
"I wish both teams success in today's exciting game. We will congratulate whichever team wins. Because we have worthy opponents and friends in front of us. But more importantly, it is to participate in such a morally valuable match.
In conclusion, I would like to say that we are not just playing football - we represent values, history and unity. And the friendship that we are experiencing here today is a triumph of these values."
