French national team forward Kylian Mbappe was injured during the match against Azerbaijan (which ended with a score of 3:0) in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
Lent.az reports that the footballer was forced to leave the French national team camp and will return to Real Madrid for the recovery process.
The report states that Real Madrid had no agreement with the French Football Federation regarding the number of minutes Mbappe would play in the match. The Madrid club was surprised that the player played almost the entire match against Azerbaijan, as Mbappe left the club with discomfort in his leg. Even the official medical report noted a problem in his ankle area.
It was added that Mbappe's ankle condition has worsened compared to when he left the club.
It is worth mentioning that another Real Madrid forward, Franco Mastantuono, a French national team player, was also injured while playing for the Argentina national team, and like Mbappe, he is returning to his club.
