It still feels incredible to think that I will soon be playing against big teams in the Champions League. Our matches in the qualifying round were very intense, but we achieved our goal. I think this is the result of my long-term efforts.
Idman.biz reports that the Polish goalkeeper of "Qarabag", Mateusz Kołalski, said this in an interview with the press of his country, AZERTAC reports.
He attributed his high performance in the qualifying and play-off stages of the tournament to experience: "Everything changes quickly in football and nothing can be ruled out. In April 2022, I made my debut in the Polish Ekstraklasa with "Radomyak", and two years later I played against the prestigious English club "Tottenham" in the Europa League with "Qarabag". We were not able to achieve great success in the Europa League. But playing against opponents such as "Tottenham", "Lyon", "Ajax" and "Olympiacos" was very useful in terms of experience. This experience helped me a lot in the Champions League qualifying stage".
The 25-year-old goalkeeper also commented on the Polish clubs' cessation of the Champions League fight: "I am very happy that four representatives of Poland qualified for the UEFA Conference League, but the Champions League is several steps higher. I believe that one of our clubs will soon be represented in this tournament again. But now I am writing my own history with "Qarabag". I am very excited when I look at our opponents in the main stage of the elite tournament. In this team, I am fighting for the championship of Azerbaijan and participating in European cups, which ensures my all-round development".
It should be noted that Mateusz Kołalski has been playing for "Qarabag" since the summer of last year.
