The 33-year-old player stated that he has been feeling back pain for a long time. This decision was made after discussions with the medical staff of the Catalan club and other specialists. Ter Stegen will undergo a 3-month recovery process after the surgery.
It should be noted that, according to earlier reports in the press, the injury also prevented Ter Stegen from leaving Barcelona this summer. However, he may start looking for a new club in the upcoming winter transfer window in order to win the position of the main goalkeeper in the German national team at the 2026 World Cup.
