Former Chelsea defensive midfielder Claude Makelele considers Moises Caicedo his successor at the London club.

"I think he has great talent. Moises is humble, he plays with a smile and works hard for his teammates. I used to do the same when I played, I enjoyed it. He has passion, he is a fighter. I think passion and fighting are as important as talent. I like him very much. He didn't want to be compared to me, he wanted to try the Caicedo role. What is important is that I came to Chelsea from Real already at a fairly mature age, and he is young, and it is difficult for a young guy to immediately try to "be me" without experience. I prefer players to do their job, write their own stories. That's why I'm happy because that's exactly what he's doing. Taking my example and developing in his own way is the best thing he can do," Makelele said.
Makelele is currently 52 years old. He played for Chelsea from 2003-2008. As part of the Londoners, he became a two-time English champion and won the League Cup, and once won the country's Cup and Super Cup.
Caicedo is 23 years old. He moved to Chelsea in 2023. As part of the "Blues", the Ecuadorian football player became the winner of the Club World Championship and the UEFA Conference League.
