The Football Association (FA) of England will acquit Lucas Paqueta, the Brazilian midfielder of the English club West Ham, who was accused of violating betting rules.
According to "Report", the Times newspaper reports this.
According to the source, the player has been acquitted by an independent regulatory commission and the decision should be announced next week.
The FA is expected to bear the legal costs, which could be up to £1 million.
Previously, based on the FA's recommendation, the player would have faced a lifetime disqualification if he had been found guilty.
Paqueta was suspected of deliberately receiving yellow cards in matches against Leicester (November 12, 2022), Aston Villa (March 12, 2023), Leeds (May 21, 2023) and Bournemouth (August 12, 2023).
The football player is 27 years old. He has been playing for the London club since 2022. Last season he played 36 games in various tournaments and scored 5 goals. Paqueta, who played 55 games for the Brazilian national team, scored 11 goals. As part of the national team, he won the Copa America (2019) and was also the silver medalist of the tournament (2021).
