The Azerbaijani national Paralympic team won four medals at the European Youth Paralympic Games held in Istanbul, Turkey.
Lent.az reports that all three of our parataekwondo athletes, who joined the competition on the second day, climbed to the podium.
Bayragdar Sabir Zeynalov (K44, 58 kilograms) started the competition from the semi-finals. The athlete defeated his teammate Aykhan Nuriyev in the semi-finals and his Turkish opponent in the final to win a gold medal.
Aykhan Nuriyev won a bronze medal.
16-year-old parataekwondo athlete Samaya Hasanova (K44, 47 kg) also joined the competition from the semi-finals. The athlete, who defeated her Turkish opponents in the semi-finals and finals, climbed to the highest step of the podium in her first international tournament.
17-year-old para-judo athlete Omar Gurbanov, although defeated in the 1/4 finals, defeated his Spanish and Moldovan opponents in two consecutive consolation matches, and the Turkish athlete in the bronze medal match, winning the bronze medal of the European Youth Paralympic Games.
