"Lyon's" 20-year-old winger Malik Fofana will be out for several months due to an injury he sustained in the French Ligue 1 Round 9 match against Strasbourg.
Idman.Biz reports that the team announced this.
"Tests carried out overnight in hospital and confirmed today have revealed a serious sprain to his right ankle. The injury will most likely require surgery. The player is expected to be out of action for several months.
"Lyon will take all necessary measures to provide Malik with the best medical care and support his rehabilitation so that he can return to the squad as soon as possible," the French club's official website said.
This season, Fofana has scored three goals and provided one assist in 16 games for both club and the Belgian national team.
