Maksim Medvedev, who has been appointed head coach of the "Qarabag" reserve team, has started selection work to form the squad.
The 35-year-old specialist gave an interview to "Report" about this.
He said that they are forming the team from scratch:
"We are currently trying to form a team. However, the contracts of many players have expired. Some contracts have also been terminated. Some of the players had to go to the I and II League clubs. Now I am almost assembling the team from scratch. We have already started training with selection character. We are trying to gather young, potential players. Of course, it is a little more difficult to form a team in the reserves because the earnings are less than in the Premier League. I think this applies not only to us, but also to others."
He spoke about the goals set for him:
"We haven't had a conversation with the management about the upcoming goals yet. Because it is difficult to set goals at the moment. We still don't know how many people will be in the team, which players will be included. First of all, we must form the root of the team. Again, I can say that the main goal in the reserves is to train players for the first team. Maybe the management will say that the result is not important. We want 4-5 potential kids to be in the reserves as candidates for the main team. This is a goal. There may be different opinions about the process."
The former defender of "Qarabag" said that they will attract players from outside the squad:
"Most likely, we will also attract players from outside. Because many of our students who used to play in the reserves have already left the team and signed contracts with other clubs. We have lost at least 4-5 people in this way. We will conduct selection again. We will attract players to the positions we need."
M.Medvedev said that they want to invite additional specialists to the coaching staff:
"I have two assistants so far. But we are thinking of hiring an additional specialist. If there is a need to create a stable, future team, there should be many assistants. The team should include analysts, coaches, doctors, and masseurs."
It should be noted that Maksim Medvedev, a graduate of the "Qarabag" academy, wore the uniform of the main team in 2006-2024. He is the player who has played the most games in "Qarabag".
