Former Barcelona coaches Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde have testified in court in the Negreira case, stating that they were unaware of the existence of referee reports allegedly prepared for the club.
İdman.Biz reports with reference to "The Athletic" that Enrique emphasized in court that such documents were never presented to him or the coaching staff.
"No report was ever discussed in my presence, and no report was shown to me. Neither to me nor to anyone from my staff. I can assure you of that," said the head coach.
Ernesto Valverde also took a similar position, stating that such materials were not presented to him during his time as coach.
However, the club's president, Joan Laporta, claims that these reports existed and were considered "useful".
It is worth recalling that in 2023, Barcelona was accused of bribery for allegedly making payments of approximately 8.4 million euros (17 million AZN) to Jose Negreira, the former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) between 2001 and 2018. Negreira denies the accusations, stating that these payments were not intended to influence referees.
