Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has been presented with the key to the city of Miami at a ceremony attended by city mayor Francis Suarez.
According to Idman.Biz, the presentation of the key to the city represents public recognition for his significant contributions to the city's development.
"Thank you, this is a great honor for me. We feel loved here and we are grateful for that. We are happy to live in this city. It is a great honor to be honored like this, so thank you," ESPN quoted Messi as saying at the ceremony.
The Argentine forward has been playing for Inter Miami since the summer of 2023. During this time, Messi has made 84 appearances in all competitions, scoring 74 goals and providing 37 assists. His current contract with the club runs until the end of 2028.
