Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has revealed why he was "afraid" to spend too much money.
Idman.Biz reports that Frenchman Konate has been with Liverpool since 2021. Transfermarkt values him at 60 million euros.
"I am the player I am today thanks to each of my brothers. From my first steps in the PSG academy twenty years ago to my move to Liverpool, they have always supported me incredibly.
I haven't spent anything at all on hedonistic or personal pleasures. I haven't bought a new car, clothes, shoes. Nothing. I was very afraid that they would say to me, 'You've changed'.
You can't imagine how much footballers need family. We are surrounded by people who are more or less well-intentioned. Ninety-five percent of them are there for footballer Konate, not for me, Ibrahima. They want to exploit my fame, but they are not really interested in me. When someone tries to contact me, I filter them," the Liverpool defender said.
The Frenchman confessed that he can sometimes spend large sums of money: "Sometimes I'm too extravagant, especially when it comes to clothes."
