Kazakhstan's "Kayrat" football club has qualified for the general stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history.
"Report" reports that the opponent in the play-off stage of the selection stage was the Scottish team "Celtic".
A goalless draw was recorded in the first match in Glasgow. The score was not opened in the main time of the return match either, after which extra time was played. However, the teams still could not determine the winner.
The fate of the pair was decided in a penalty shootout, with "Kayrat" being stronger - 3:2. Thus, the Almaty team reached the general stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.
Previously, only "Astana" managed to pass the play-off of the tournament from the Kazakhstan clubs in the 2015/16 season.
