"I wouldn't rate my performance too highly yet. The main thing for me is to play consistently and benefit the team."
This was stated by "Kapaz" goalkeeper Yusif Imanov in an interview with futbolinfo.az.
We present that interview.
– The team reached 9 points and rose to 10th place. Will you be able to improve your position further?
– Of course, we believe in it. Currently, the atmosphere within the team is completely different. Every point gained gives us extra strength both in the standings and psychologically. There are still many games ahead and our main goal is to continue at this pace and gradually improve our position. No one is relaxing, everyone understands their responsibility.
– How do you assess your performance in "Kapaz"? Do you think you will be able to prove yourself again and go to better clubs?
– I wouldn't rate my performance too highly yet. The main thing for me is to play consistently and benefit the team. I am working on this. If I can do this in "Kapaz", then, of course, better opportunities may arise in the future. But right now all my focus is here, because it is not right to talk about individual goals without results.
– Has the victory in the last round restored the team's self-confidence and do you hope that the second half of the season will be more successful for you?
– Yes, that victory was very important for the team. Sometimes one game changes everything — both confidence and psychological burden. This is also felt in training now. We hope that in the second half we will see a more stable, more confident and result-oriented "Kapaz".
– In general, how will you take advantage of the winter break and will this help you achieve better results?
– The winter break is very important for us. This period must be properly assessed both physically and mentally. It is a good opportunity for us as a team to work on shortcomings and further improve the game plan. I will also try to make the most of this break individually so that I can come out more prepared for the second half.
– You had some difficulties in your career for a while and you were also left out of the Azerbaijan national team. Would you like to return to the national team again? Do you think you can do it?
– Playing in the national team is a great honor for every football player and, of course, I want to be there again. Recent events did not discourage me, on the contrary, they made me work harder. I think that if I appear on the field continuously, the national team issue will come up on its own.
– There is a Western derby in the next round. Will it be possible to defeat "Turan Tovuz" as well?
– The Western derby has always been and will be a special game. "Turan Tovuz" is a strong, well-formed team. It won't be easy, but we will do our best on the field. With the right approach, concentration and team play, it is possible to fight against any opponent. Our goal is a good game and result.
