Araz-Nakhchivan club footballer Joshgun Diniyev commented on the game after the 23rd round match of the Azerbaijan Premier League, in which they lost 0:6 to Qarabag.
The experienced midfielder stressed the importance of learning the right lessons from the result, despite the heavy defeat.
J. Diniyev said that although the team went on the road to get a good result, the final score was unexpected for them.
"We came here for a good result. Unfortunately, we lost by a big score. This result was also a surprise for us. There are many points to talk about. But the main thing is to properly analyze this heavy defeat and draw conclusions. It is difficult to accept defeat, but we have to look forward," he told sportnet.az.
The football player also touched upon the psychological state of the team after the score increased. He noted that during high-scoring defeats, players inevitably lose heart:
"As the score difference increases, the players experience a psychological decline. However, it is necessary to fight until the end for 90 minutes. We tried to prevent the score from increasing further and to prevent this as a team. But today we could not stop the opponent."
The midfielder also commented on the penalties awarded during the game and said that the referee's decisions were correct:
"Both penalties were the right decision. There is no reason to protest. We made mistakes and the opponent made the most of these opportunities."
Joshgun Diniyev also clarified the opinions expressed about the team's head coach Andrey Demchenko. He said that it is not correct to attribute unsuccessful results to the coach's factor:
"There are no problems with the head coach. He is a very experienced specialist and knows what he wants. The coach explains the instructions, but it is the football players who execute them on the field. If the execution is not at the desired level, there is not much the coach can do. Unfortunately, although we have shown good games, we have not been able to catch a successful series."
The experienced football player also spoke about the game against Karvan-Yevlakh in the next round. He thinks that the match against the outsider will be more difficult:
"I think that the game against Karvan-Yevlakh will be more difficult for us than the match against Qarabag. They are fighting to stay in the Premier League. There are few games left until the end of the season and every point is of great importance to them. Therefore, a difficult match awaits us. We will try to make our fans forget this heavy defeat."
