"It is definitely a very important match, but I don't believe that the fate of the championship will be decided in one game."
This was stated by "Sabah" football player Jesse Sekidika in an interview with futbolpress.az.
We present that interview.
– You have won 10 consecutive victories for the first time in the club's history. What are your thoughts?
– Of course, this is a great achievement. It shows the consistency and mentality of this team. But frankly, we're not getting carried away with it. We respect the work we do, but our focus is always on the next game and improvement.
– The most critical game of the season – the match with "Qarabağ" is ahead. Do you think the fate of the championship will be decided in this game?
– It is definitely a very important match, but I don't believe that the fate of the championship will be decided in one game. The title is earned consistently throughout the season. But this match can give momentum and confidence, and we understand the responsibility. We take our work seriously.
– "Qarabağ" will come from a difficult trip to "Newcastle". Does this give you any advantage?
– "Qarabağ" is very experienced in managing these situations. They have played such games many times. I don't think fatigue or travel can be an excuse for either side. At this level, every team must be ready regardless of the situation.
– Defeat can put pressure on the team. Are you ready for this?
– We don't think about negative scenarios. Our mindset is very simple: we come to work every day to improve and give our best in every match. The tournament table does not change our approach. We focus on what we can control – our performance, our mentality and our consistency. If you do this right, the season will define itself. Our only job right now is to continue to improve from game to game and compete at the highest level.
– Have you been able to get back into full shape since returning from injury?
– I feel good physically and, more importantly, I am confident again. It always takes a little time to get back after an injury. That is, you have to be not only physically but also mentally. I focus on helping the team in every way. I feel stronger and more confident with each match. This is important.
