It was expected that "Imishli", the debutant of the Premier League, would hold its home games at the stadium of the Guba Olympic Sports Complex. However, according to the decision made by the PFL, "Imishli"'s first 2 home games will be held in Shamakhi.
Idman.biz reports that sportal.az contacted Elgiz Abbasov, director of the Technical Sports Department of the PFL, to clarify the issue.
Abbasov stated in his statement that "Imishli" had been notified about the shortcomings a month ago: "On 16.07.2025, 30 days before the start date of the 2025/26 season, the "Imishli" Football Club sent a request to the official e-mail address of the PFL and requested that the stadium of the Guba Olympic Sports Complex be inspected for the team to hold its home games. Based on this, on 25.07.2025, the PFL inspected the stadium in question. During the inspection process, in which the club management also participated, information was provided on the shortcomings on the spot, and solutions were also offered. The results of the inspection were sent to the e-mail address of the "Imishli" club on 28.07.2025, and the importance of eliminating the noted shortcomings by August 8 was emphasized.
However, despite the efforts during the past period, the official agreement signed between the stadium and the club was not presented, and no actual steps were taken by the club to eliminate the shortcomings. According to paragraph 1 of Article 9 of the Regulations of the Azerbaijan Premier League, Azerbaijan Cup, Reserve League and I League competitions of the 2025-2026 season, the stadium where the club will hold its home games was determined by the Professional Football League because the shortcomings in the presented stadium were not eliminated. A week before the start of the season, on 08.08.2025, the club was officially informed that it will hold its first 2 home games within the Premier League at the Shamakhi city stadium."
