Idman.Biz reports that this was stated by Gurban Gurbanov, the head coach of "Qarabagh", in his statement to "Euronews" channel.
The 53-year-old specialist called Azerbaijan a sports country:
"We have many champion athletes in wrestling and judo. We have enough Olympic and world champions. Azerbaijan is a sports country. Football has reached such a level that it is not easy to keep up with it. There is no weak team in the Champions League. I cannot help but be happy to beat such teams and be in the top ranks. Because, almost the whole world started to take an interest in us".
The experienced coach also evaluated the 3:2 victory over Benfica in the main stage of the Champions League:
"I always tell the players that in order to achieve more successful results and grow, we must play confidently and bravely against any team. I cannot express my emotions in words. Because scoring three goals after conceding two goals against a team like Benfica is a great achievement. Because Benfica could score a third or fourth goal at any moment. The players are very happy with such victories. Before the game, perhaps very few people would have thought about our victory, even our draw. Our victory was talked about in all European countries. This created additional confidence in our team. Participating in such a tournament causes them to be more interested in our rights. Our re-entry into the Champions League seriously declared the history of the name Karabakh".
Gurban Gurbanov emphasized that they will try to achieve better results:
