– It was an important victory. My players showed character. I thank the fans, they supported us. We were playing against a good, tough team. "Turan Tovuz" has its own unique game. It is not easy to catch the rhythm in such matches. Every pause, free kick was an advantage for the opponent. They created danger from standard situations near the end.
– Usually, you give preference to the second team after away games. But today you released the main team against "Turan Tovuz". Did you take this step because there was a danger in the way to the championship?
– Such things happen. We came from a long trip, there was fatigue. But I told the players that they should be ready for this game. There is also a need for it now. What I am worried about are the injuries. Micro-injuries can occur in such matches. After looking at the players' readiness, we decided to go out with this squad.
– You have seen high-level games and referees in the Champions League. What advice can you give to our local FIFA referees?
– Nothing, there are emotions during the game. There were just a bit too many game stoppages. Some episodes could have been continued. I feel comfortable when Elchin Masiyev gets an appointment. Because he has European experience, he can catch the pace of the game. We got caught up in emotions at some moments, but I told him the reason later. He took it normally. We are on the outside and can be wrong in some episodes. I just get a little aggressive when the game stops a lot. I expressed my opinion due to the drop in tempo. But overall, they know better than us.
– You will go to "Newcastle" stadium after 21 years. How do you remember it?
– Normal, as it was. There were crazy fans at that time, it was a little scary. There is another football there. The English Premier League surpasses all leagues. – There is no need for a "red". I don't want simple cards to be given. Football is a game of struggles. Those episodes create more enthusiasm among the fans.
