"Qarabagh" will be the guest of "Shelbourne" tomorrow in the first match of the 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. Sport24.az reports that Qurban Gurbanov, the head coach of "Qarabagh", answered journalists' questions at the pre-match press conference:
- First of all, let me say that we are playing against a very good team. Only good words can be said about this team. Because when watching the team's game live, we see that they have their own unique playing style and there are players who perform this style very disciplined. The opponent's game experience is higher than ours. They are currently continuing to compete in both the championship and the Champions League. Therefore, they are in better shape than us. However, in any case, we have tried to get to know the opponent closely and we must try to play flawlessly in tomorrow's game. I believe it will be an interesting game for the fans. Although the number of fans is small here, it is as if you are playing in a stadium with 10-15 thousand people. Because although the number of their fans is small, I saw their desire live in Belfast.
- What do you expect the danger from the most?
- They are a team that prepares for fast counter-attacks and very good attacks. I can say that they are also dangerous from standard situations. Tomorrow we have to try to make as few mistakes as possible and thus achieve the result we want.
- "Qarabagh" has great experience in European Cups. It has been participating in the group stages for 11 years in a row. What is the secret of this success?
- I wouldn't call it a secret. The club takes its work very seriously. At the management level, a job has been established that every year at least the success must be preserved. Unfortunately, we cannot achieve the result we want every time. But playing in the groups for these 11 years can really be considered a success.
- A few years ago, there was a match against "Dundalk" in Iceland. That match ended in a draw and you passed the stage by winning in Baku. If you face the same situation tomorrow, how would you react?
- It is possible that even a minimal defeat will benefit us. Thus, we will have the opportunity to prepare better for the game in Baku. But tomorrow we are waiting for a game against a very enthusiastic and disciplined team. I don't say this as a compliment. They deserve it today. It is not easy to play in this stadium. Any result is possible in tomorrow's game. In any case, the winner will be determined in the return match.
