The French national football team will play its away match against Azerbaijan in Baku as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round with a significantly renewed squad.
According to Idman.Biz, after a 4-0 home victory over Ukraine, French head coach Didier Deschamps announced that a number of key players will not travel to Baku, and the game will provide an opportunity for rotation and redistribution of the workload.
"Eduardo Camavinga will leave. He has undergone an examination, he has no injuries, but he has a small muscle problem in his thigh. Manu Kone will also not leave. Some players have played a lot, we have to manage the load and at the same time maintain respect for the opponent," said the head coach of the French national team.
According to Deschamps, qualification for the World Championship has already been secured, and a tight schedule at both club and national team levels requires a careful approach to the team's leaders. In Baku, close reserve players will get more playing time, while part of the main squad will stay in France and prepare for the continuation of the season in their clubs.
Let us remind you that the match between the national teams of Azerbaijan and France will be held on Sunday, November 16, at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium and will start at 21:00 Baku time.
The situation of the teams in Group D before the last round is as follows: France – 13, Iceland – 7, Ukraine – 7, Azerbaijan – 1.
