Former Premier League referee David Coote has been charged with making child pornography.

In November last year, The Sun published a video of Coote calling Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp a "disgusting German". Shortly after, another video surfaced of him using cocaine at EURO 2024. These two incidents ruined Coote's refereeing career.
In December 2024, the English referees' body PGMOL sent the 43-year-old referee into retirement. UEFA has removed him from all football activities until June of next year.
Coote has refereed more than 100 matches in English football.
