The situation with Azerbaijani children in the Spanish club "Marset" remains uncertain after the arrest of businessman Adnan Ahmadzadeh.
Mardan Hasanov, the father of Kamil Hasanov, one of the children playing in that academy, gave an explanation to "Qafqazinfo" regarding the situation.
He stated that due to the lack of payments, the "Marset" academy announced that they would not be able to keep the children there:
"My son and a group of his peers went to the "Marset" academy in Barcelona, Spain in September 2024 to play football and study. Everything was great, everything was excellent, until the well-known event. After the recent events, we were told that they will not be able to keep the children in Spain because there is no payment. The ASTA (Azerbaijan Sport Talents Academy) management also told us that they could not make payments because their accounts were frozen.
As far as I know, only five or six out of a total of 32 children have been kept. These children have been in "Marset" since 2023. But it seems they will keep them until January.
Kamil and some of his teammates, i.e. children born in 2009, were in the national team when these events happened. They came to our country from France with the national team and did not return to Spain.
On my behalf, I would like to thank the ASTA management for creating such an opportunity for our children. Since 70-80 percent of the children there are members of the national team, I expect AFFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to intervene in this matter. I ask that they help our children return to "Marset" and play football."
It should be noted that the Sabail District Court of Baku chose a four-month arrest warrant for A. Ahmadzadeh on September 20. Adnan Ahmadzadeh is also known as a person close to the football world. He is friends with the management of the "Barcelona" club, as well as several world football stars, including Lionel Messi.
