In the Ukrainian football championship, Irina Mayborodina, a player of the "Sisters" (Odessa) club, was penalized for using the Russian language.
Lent.az reports that the match took place on August 17 and ended with a 2:1 victory for "Sisters" over "Kolos" (Kovalivka). In the 42nd minute of the match, head referee Anastasija Romanyuk showed Mayborodina a yellow card.
According to the referee, the 32-year-old football player demonstrated unsportsmanlike conduct by using Russian phrases.
It is noted that referee Romanyuk remarked to the football player, "We don't speak Russian here, this is the Ukrainian championship. Yellow card for protesting."
