Footballer playing in Russian club: "I dream of playing in the Azerbaijani national team" - INTERVIEW

Sadiq Bagiyev, a footballer from the Russian club "SKA-Khabarovsk," will be invited to the Azerbaijan U-21 team.

Idman.biz reports that our compatriot, in an interview with Sportal.az, also spoke about his desire to play for our main national team.

- There are 2 rounds left until the end of the season. The team lost its chances for the Premier League. How was the season for you? I guess the main goal was to qualify for the Premier League?

- I think we still have a chance. But of course, if the 5th place will play playoff games, that's how it is. To be honest, at the beginning of the season, no one thought that we would fight to enter the Premier League. There was no such goal at the beginning. But the team fought well.

- How was this season for you? Did you expect to play less? I guess you will find more playing time as time goes on?

- Of course, I understood that it would be difficult to find more playing time here. But my transfer to "SKA-Khabarovsk" was to step into a new level. Of course, I would like to play more. I think everything will fall into place over time.

- Interestingly, do you have offers from Russian or Azerbaijani clubs? Will you leave the team in the summer?

- I have a contract with "SKA-Khabarovsk." I am preparing for the rest of the season.

- In general, do you imagine, do you dream of your future career in the Russian Premier League or the Azerbaijan Premier League? Which club in Azerbaijan are you interested in playing for?

- I think you should dream bigger. Of course, I can imagine such a development of events. There is no discrimination between clubs in Azerbaijan.

- You will be invited to the Azerbaijan U-21 team. Have the coaches already spoken to you? Is there any excitement?

- Communication with the coaching staff is still ahead. Of course, being invited to the national team is a special feeling. This is a good experience for me. I want to show myself from the best side.

- Do you imagine yourself in the Azerbaijan A national team? Is this your main goal?

- Yes, I imagine myself in the national team uniform. But who knows how my career will turn out? The main goal is to play at the highest level. Time will tell.
