Spanish police have proven the involvement of Sevilla defender Kike Salas in match-fixing related to betting.
Idman.biz reports that El Confidencial reported on this.
The footballer's mobile phone correspondence was investigated and evidence was found that he intentionally received yellow cards in La Liga matches. It turned out that Salas told his friends in advance in which game he would receive a warning. At least five such cases have been officially proven.
The footballer's friends' accounts were used for the investment, with 60% of the profit going to Salas and 40% to his accomplices.
The case against Salas was opened back in January. At least 10 yellow cards received by the 23-year-old footballer in the 2023/2024 season are under investigation. Now the defender may face up to 3 years in prison.
It should be noted that this season Salas scored 3 goals, provided 2 assists and received 6 yellow cards in 30 La Liga matches.
