Goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is once again in the spotlight in Catalonia, but this time thanks to Rudi Föller.
Idman.biz reports that the former German national team player believes that the Barcelona goalkeeper should be the team's first-choice goalkeeper at next year's World Cup.
However, according to Föller, this depends on whether or not he plays for his current club.
"A goalkeeper like Ter Stegen deserves to play in the World Cup. Baumann has done very well as a substitute in recent months, but Ter Stegen should be the first-choice goalkeeper. I hope he will return soon. Starting in January, to Barcelona or another club. This is very important now. He has to play to return to the national team," said Föller.
It should be reminded that the German goalkeeper underwent surgery after a back injury and is currently in the recovery phase. He is expected to return to the Barcelona squad in January. However, the prospect of being able to get into the main squad in the club that signed a contract with Joan Garcia is not clear.
There was disagreement between Ter Stegen and Barcelona from the beginning of the season. The club had initiated disciplinary proceedings against the goalkeeper, depriving him of the captaincy. However, the dispute ended with the goalkeeper allowing his medical report to be submitted to La Liga. This allowed the club to sign another goalkeeper.
