"It would not be right to make a decision about changing the head coach based on the result of one game. That's my approach." These words were said to Sport24.az by Firuz Abdulla, Executive Director of "Sabail".
The official spoke about parting ways with head coach Elvin Mammadov:
"I can't say that we were not satisfied with the results during the season. Everything was not so bad. But sometimes there are moments when you feel that some kind of change is needed. Therefore, we made a decision to part ways by mutual agreement."
He also shared his thoughts on the appointment of the new head coach Adil Shukurov:
"Our goal does not change. Our goal is to finish the season in the first place and win a ticket to the Premier League again. Our expectations from Adil Shukurov are that he will help the team in terms of achieving our goal.
He held his first training session yesterday. Today is his second training session. Any team thinks about strengthening its squad both in the off-season and during the inter-round break. This is not a matter of desire and enthusiasm. The budget should also allow for this. There has been no discussion on the topic. We can talk about this issue after the upcoming games. The initial approach is that the current squad is enough to successfully complete this season."
It should be noted that after 9 rounds, "Sabail", with 18 points in its assets, is in the second place in the tournament table, 5 points behind the leader "Shafa".
