The FIFA Appeal Committee has upheld the sanctions against seven players from the Malaysian national team. Sport24.az reports that the supreme football body's official website shared this information.
FIFA had previously disqualified the players for 12 months for falsifying documents.
Alaves defender Facundo Garces is also among them. Gabriel Felipe, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, Joao Figueiredo, John Yrazabal and Hector Alejandro Hevel Serrano were also penalized.
It is alleged that the Malaysian Football Association used forged documents after submitting a request to FIFA to ensure the above-mentioned players played against Vietnam in the third round of the Asian Cup qualifiers on June 10.
It should be noted that due to the rejection of the appeal, each player will have to pay a fine of approximately 2,100 euros. The Malaysian Football Association was fined 374,000 euros.
