After the Mexican representative "Leon" was excluded from the tournament, "Barcelona" asked FIFA for permission to participate in the Club World Cup to be held in the USA.
In March, the FIFA Appeals Committee, taking into account that "Leon" and "Pachuca" are financed from the same source, decided that these two clubs could not compete together in the same tournament.
According to the source, "Barcelona" submitted its candidacy for the world championship to FIFA. However, the supreme football body rejected the Catalans' request, as the participation of "Real" and "Atletico" in the tournament was confirmed. According to the regulations, no more than two teams from one country can compete in the Club World Cup.
It should be noted that in the end, "Leon"'s place in the World Cup went to "Los Angeles", which defeated "America".
