Federico Valverde has become the player with the most matches played in a single season among European clubs in the 21st century, participating in 65 official tournament matches for Real Madrid in the 2024/25 season.
Idman.biz reports that the previous record of 64 matches belonged to three players: Jose Jurado, Oscar, and Fernando Torres.
Valverde started in the starting lineup in 62 of these games and entered the field as a substitute 3 times.
Real Madrid played a total of 68 games during the season, and the Uruguayan midfielder missed only 3 matches.
There are only two players in the history of the "Royal Club" who have played more than 60 official games in a season. The second player also achieved this feat in the same season – Luka Modrić (63 games).
Valverde is also Real Madrid's player with the most minutes played in a season - 5557 minutes. The previous record belonged to goalkeeper Paco Buyo - 5250 minutes in the 1986/87 season.
