The "Fair Play Match" took place on May 26 at the ASK Arena.
Sport24.az reports that mixed teams consisting of professional, veteran, amateur, women and disabled football players and referees participated in the match.
The purpose of this game was to convey the messages "Football for all" and "Fair play in football".
This match was also dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Tofig Bahramov, the unforgettable figure of Azerbaijani football history, a world-famous referee, and the "International Day of Fair Play", which is celebrated for the first time in the world this year.
The event was organized by the "Azerbaijan Football Referees" Public Union, with the support and partnership of the British Embassy in Azerbaijan, the Association of Azerbaijani Football Federations, and the "Neftchi" professional football club.
Before the match, at the opening of the event, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to our country, Fergus Auld, the chairman of the "Azerbaijan Football Referees" Public Union Gulagha Jabarov, the president of the Regional Football Federation Iskander Javadov and others made opening speeches and emphasized the importance of the event. The Ambassador spoke in our native language and noted the importance of sports: "The Fair Play match is a very good initiative. This match shows us that football and sports are for everyone. Everyone plays on one field. This clearly demonstrates how football unites people. This game is also dedicated to a very special person - Tofig Bahramov, the face of Azerbaijani football."
Then an interesting football match started. The British Ambassador, employees of the British Embassy, the "Baku Juniors" women's club, football veterans, the national amputee football team and referees came together to celebrate the spirit of fair play and played an interesting football match. After the event, "Neftchi" club presented gifts to amputee football players.
It should be noted that this event was organized within the framework of the "Tofig Bahramov - 100" Fair Play Heritage" project implemented by the "Azerbaijan Football Referees" Public Union in 2025.
