The star footballer did not hide that this decision was due to family reasons:
"I would really like to get a British passport - to become a citizen of England. When I signed a contract with Manchester City, I already said that I felt at home here. It was perfectly legal for me to return to England. My family had a great time here. My mother loves England, its traditions and everything here very much."
