After the match between Qarabag and Chelsea (England) in the IV round of the Champions League group stage (2:2), the head coach of the visiting team, Enzo Maresca, answered journalists' questions. Sport24.az reports that the specialist first shared his thoughts on the meeting.
- What were your squad changes related to?
- I think we had to change players. We started right, we scored a goal. Then we conceded two goals. When they scored the second goal, there were 10 people on the field. We made some changes to the squad. Our squad is wide and we want every player to have a chance. Some players also need rest. We have a busy schedule and we have to make rotations.
- What were you trying to achieve with the changes?
- We wanted to win. We were able to react to the goals. We played better in the second half. Every game is a chance for all the players to play.
- Was Qarabag as you expected?
- I said before, Qarabag plays very well. They do great things. It was difficult to play against Qarabag.
- Were the conceded goals, mistakes related to the inexperience of the squad?
- We conceded silly goals. We had to be careful. We needed extra attention.
- If you were to start the game again, would it be the same "11"?
- We go to every game to win. We made some changes in the second half. Some players are slowly improving.
- If they told you before the match that the score would be 2:2, would you believe it?
- Of course. We wouldn't want that to happen. We earned a point. We need to recover for the next games. Anything is possible in the Champions League.
