Elkhan Abdullayev spoke about the U-19's victory over Iceland and the character of the players

Elkhan Abdullayev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national U-19 football team, gave a statement to the AFFA press service after the first match against the Icelandic national team within the "Slovenia Nations Cup" friendly tournament held in Slovenia.

Idman.biz reports that the head coach stated that the football players fought hard in the match where the U-19 national team won with a score of 2:1: "It was our first game within the training camp. We witnessed an intense fight. Iceland was a strong opponent. Nevertheless, the children showed good character, they all deserve applause. We scored two beautiful goals. Although I am satisfied with the result, there were some mistakes during the match. We will work on these mistakes. I congratulate our football players, I expect them to fight even better in the upcoming matches."

Elkhan Abdullayev compared the opponents in the international tournament to the opponents of our national team in the qualifying round of the European Championship: "We have already forgotten the game with Iceland, we must first prepare for the game with the Faroe Islands, and then with Poland. As you know, we will face the Czech Republic, Northern Ireland and Malta in the qualifying round in November. We have also chosen opponents similar to the style of these teams for test matches. Overall, we are very pleased with the organization. Very good conditions have been created for the training camp."

It should be noted that our U-19 national team will play its next matches within the tournament against the Faroe Islands on September 6, and against the corresponding age group team of Poland on September 9.
